An Overdue Celebration

Apparently, I only seem to be capable of updating this journal every year. So, here I am! I've been long-meaning to write an update about a personal art goal of mine which I accomplished in 2024.

Each year, my town puts out a call for artists to submit their artwork to potentially be printed and vinyl wrapped on local power boxes and mailboxes. I’m excited to share that last year, one of my paintings was selected for this cool initiative!

Vibrant abstract painting of red trees under swirling pink and orange sky. The landscape and sky blend in vivid, flowing patterns.

The painting that was selected is "Orangeville Winter II" which is shown in my Portfolio and currently available for sale in my Etsy shop, CALM + STILL. It was the first painting I ever completed on a larger canvas size and I remember it took me some time to finish it and decide on the blocks of light in the foreground. It's been hanging in the front hallway since, and brings such happy colour to our home.

Utility box painted with red and pink sunset and trees, next to a metal pole with a pedestrian crossing button. Background shows a street and greenery.

Reflecting on this milestone, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to share my art with my community in such a fun way. Having "Orangeville Winter II" chosen for this initiative has not only been a personal goal of mine, but also a reminder of the importance of pursuing creative passions. I encourage fellow artists to embrace local initiatives and showcase their work, as you never know where it might lead. Thank you for following along on my artistic journey, and I look forward to sharing more updates in the future!
